If you are planning on selling your home this year you should know that the Virginia General Assembly has implemented a transportation funding package (HB2313) which will increase the real estate Grantors Tax. The rate is set to triple from $1 per $1,000 of sales price, to $3.50 per $1,000 of sales price. On the Buyer’s side, the Federal Housing Administration announced in January that starting on April 1, 2013, the annual mortgage insurance premium for FHA loans will increase by 10 basis points, or by .10%. After June 3 FHA will collect Annual MIP for the duration of the loan.
